Is drawing the best way for visualization? How to make sure that others understand your ideas? And how will you make sure that your clients and other professional understand what you are trying to do?
I was lied to when I first got here. At the school they said "no, you don't need to know how to draw", and then when critiquing your work the comment "...that is not a good drawing you have to fix that" came up. The real answer was yes you need to know how to draw, you need to know how to pick up a pencil and start expressing yourself because it is the only way that others will understand.
Now, hand drawing is the basic, the foundation layer, that does not mean it is the only means for visualization. technology has come a very long way in this last century and it has provided with means of visualization that a pencil can't, while at the same time capturing a bigger audience. The excuse of the school is technology, that because we are going to be using the computers we no longer need to learn basics like drawing and sketching, but like in many cases they are wrong. We, the students, need to know how to sketch and how to draw, the computer is a machine, it is cold and un feeling, not to mention a lot stupider than you hand, it reacts a lot slower, it is not an extension of you. Let's go back to basics.
